Dancing In The Moonlight
This song is often incorrectly thought to be written by a number of artists - Toploader, Van Morrison (who never actually recorded this song) and Elvis Costello. Although acheiving a top ten position by Toploader in the UK charts in 2000, the song was originally written by Sharman Kelly in 1968, and first recorded in 1970 by the American act, Buffalongo.
How to play the 'Dancing In The Moonlight' chords on piano or guitar
The song can be performed with just four chords (that repeat throughout). If you're feeling adventurous, try also playing the fifth chord - inversion chord Bb/D. Here you will need to play a Bb chord in the right hand and a D note in the left hand. When you see a / between two letters like this it DOES NOT MEAN play either Bb or D chord (a common mistake). The first note is the chord that is played (usually in the right hand) and the second note is the bass note. We usually play this note as a single note (or in octaves) with the left hand.
For the guitar, Eb is a demanding key, and will involve "barring" every chord. Alternatively, consider playing "Dancing In The Moonlight" in D major, (with capo 1 for the guitar). Here the five chords would look like this:-
Em7 A
D A/C# Bm
